Its intelligent-pathing navigational system results in superior maneuverability and its high-pile carpet mode is clean well, though it tends to get caught up on rug tassels. Its iHome speaker allows you to control the robot using voice commands.

In our tests, we discovered that the IQ handled pet hair with ease. It was able to remove lots of debris on bare floors, and a fair amount of rug with a medium pile. It was a little less efficient on shag carpets, where it struggled to reach dirt and dust buried in the fibers. It was able to navigate chair legs, small spaces and even the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. We did notice that it was a bit slower on floors that were not paved but it quickly recovered and performed better than the other robots we tried.

The IQ is a better option for the majority of users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a larger dustbin and a longer battery life, and is better at navigating obstacles. It also has mopping attachments that are able to deal with sticky mess. The iRobot however, is better built, has fewer components that need maintenance or replacement and incurs fewer cost per year, and can create virtual no-go zones using its companion app. It is able to continue cleaning from where it left off even if the battery is out before it finishes. The iRobot can also be controlled using voice, which is a huge plus for many users.
